Aprilia SR 175 Launched at ₹1.26 Lakh – Gets More Power and New Features
Aprilia has unveiled its latest scooter, the SR 175, aimed at adding more excitement to daily urban rides. Positioned above the existing SR 160 (which remains on sale for now, likely until stocks run out), the new SR 175 is priced at ₹1.26 lakh (ex-showroom). It takes on rivals like the Hero Xoom 160 and Yamaha Aerox 155 in the performance scooter segment.
Performance and Powertrain
At the heart of the SR 175 is a new 174.7cc air-cooled, 3-valve, single-cylinder hp.e engine, delivering 12.92 hp at 7,200 rpm and 14.14 Nm at 6,000 rpm, paired with a responsive CVT. This marks a significant step up from the SR 160, which offers 11.27 hp and 13.44 Nm. The new engine, with its larger bore, promises better acceleration and overall performance, giving Aprilia a clear edge over Hero and Yamaha in terms of engine displacement.
Design and Styling
While the SR 175 retains much of the familiar SR 160 styling, it gains sportier graphics inspired by the Aprilia RS 457. Two eye-catching color options are available – Glossy Tech White and Matt Prismatic Dark – both featuring red alloy wheels for an added dose of aggression.
The scooter rides on 14-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in wide tyres, enhancing ride quality, stability, and the ability to handle uneven roads, potholes, and urban debris with ease.
Tech and Connectivity
A major highlight of the SR 175 is its 5-inch full-color TFT display, similar in look to the ones found on the RS 457 and Tuono 457, though with a more commuter-friendly interface. It offers customizable layouts, backlight adjustments, and Bluetooth connectivity. Through the Aprilia app, riders can access navigation, calls, music, and ride statistics, adding a layer of smart functionality to everyday commutes.
